Swimming and other things

We have been keeping busy swimming at our neighbor's pool (we love them!) and doing family things. Last week we went to a River City Rascal baseball game. It was fun, but REALLY hot. We had lawn seats so close to the field it was neat, but we were miserable. We found some picnic tables under a pavillion which was much better. We also went to Des Peres park with some friends. The kids loved the water pole. Not all that exciting, but water is water to a kid, right? For Father's Day I had to work, so Rob took the kids out to his dad's house. They enjoyed more fishing. It is nice that the tiny fish nibble because even Elizabeth can catch fish by herself.

A Day at Lake Sherwood

This was one of our first trips out to Lake Sherwood to see the new pontoon boat. It is super nice and I had a lot of fun going on every boat ride that was offered :) The kids had a great time too. They love swimming off the dock and playing on the deck.

Summer Pet

Here are some pictures of our newest pet. The rabbit Butterscotch is "on loan" for the summer from my sister. It is her class pet. The kids adore him and always ask me to get him out of his cage. He runs around and hides in small spaces which makes it a bit difficult to get him back into his cage. Micah likes him too and gets very excited when he sees him. So far, so good...

So Much Rain

Memorial Day weekend was fun, but wet. Saturday we went out to Rob's dads house in DeSoto. He has about 3 acres on a lake. The kids had a blast fishing, exploring and watching the little turtle Grandpa Ed caught. We were going to take the turtle home for a pet, but it got away, bummer. During our walk around the property it started to rain. We continued walking with our umbrellas. We had bbq burgers for lunch and then headed out to Swing Around Fun Town. Our church planned a family event there which was fun, but Benjamin wasn't into the go carts or bumper boats. Elizabeth rode the go carts and bumper boats with me which was a blast!
Sunday I had to work and Rob took the kids minus Micah up to the farm in Troy,Mo. They had a great day until the rain came in. Around 9pm after 3 hrs of rain Rob decided to forget the camping in a tent and just come home. However, he was stopped on Hwy 61 for 40 mins. It ended up that the highway was flooded!!! He had to turn around and go back. After 2+ hrs in the car (the kids asleep, thankfully) he made it back. They slept in the tent because the rain had stopped and a fire was started up again. Unfortunately around 3am the storms started again and Rob was praying for their safety. Elizabeth slept through it, but Benjamin was pretty scared. It was hard rain and continuous lightning and thunder for over an hour!!! I am so glad I wasn't there because I would have carried the kids into the house in the downpour. FYI the house probably wasn't much more safe than the tent. It is really old and small. Grandma Helen, Micah and I were suppose to meet them up there on Monday, but decided against it because everything was so wet. I think it did rain again on Monday. We waited for Rob and the kids to return. We set up the tent in out backyard to dry out. The kids loved playing in it. I bet that tent is at least 15yrs old. since it was my parents and I know I camped in it as a kid. What a crazy weekend!
I am glad it is June, the sun is out, it is warm and our neighbors pool is open!!
